The Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Program (Padi) celebrates its 10th anniversary this month. Padi was pre-launched during CBR 14, held in Rio de Janeiro, but the CBR only introduced the program to its partners in December. Throughout this period, Padi has established itself as a benchmark of excellence in Brazil, always aiming for continuous commitment to quality and safety in diagnostic imaging.

Learn more about our history:

Padi's first year (2015)

In the first year, the Program had two important activities that were fundamental to this trajectory. In January 2015, Padi graduated its first class of external auditors, which was held in São Paulo (SP). In the same year, the program had its first accredited clinic, Mega Imagem (Santos-SP). On that occasion, the clinic's partners received the accreditation certificate in person from Dr. Antonio Carlos Matteoni (CBR President at the time) and Dr. Conrado Cavalcanti (Padi Coordinator at the time). At the end of 2015, Padi was also the subject of a symposium during the 44th Brazilian Congress of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR 15).

Second year of Padi (2016)

This year, the Program was recognized by the National Supplementary Health Agency. This recognition was extremely important for Padi, as demand for the Program grew from 37 to 59 establishments. 2016 also marked the first accredited clinic in São Paulo, which was Cura Imagem e Diagnóstico. Like Mega Imagem, the representatives of Cura Imagem e Diagnóstico received their accreditation certificate in person at the CBR headquarters.

Third year of Padi (2017)

In 2017, the Padi standard was certified by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua®), the only organization in the world to certify other health accreditation institutions. In June this year, the CBR program accredited the Sírio Libanês Hospital, which was the first hospital in Brazil to receive a specific accreditation in diagnostic imaging. In addition, Padi was at Feira Hospitalar, one of the largest healthcare events in Brazil.

Fourth year of Padi (2018)

In 2018, the standard was updated to its fourth version. In the second half of the year, Padi also took part in the 32nd Brazilian Congress of Nuclear Medicine in São Paulo.

Fifth year of Padi (2019)

The year 2019 was marked by the first meeting of Padi's external auditors at the school's headquarters in São Paulo (SP).

Sixth year of Padi (2020)

This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a new methodology was developed for carrying out Padi audits in virtual format, with the first audit taking place in 2021.

Padi's seventh year (2021)

In 2021, the first Public Consultation of version 5 of the Padi standard took place. The main changes were made to Teleradiology, LGPD, Ethical Dilemmas and Patients. That same year, the Program started holding themed webinars, the first of which was "Padi Accreditation: What are the challenges?

Padi's eighth year (2022)

This year, Padi carried out a very important action, which was the launch of its new brand, with a new logo and visual identity. During JPR 22, a meeting was held with CEOs from large institutions, with the aim of addressing the benefits of implementing a specific accreditation in Imaging. The CBR Program was responsible for an accreditation and quality module at the 41st Hospital Administration and Health Management Congress at Medical Fair. At the end of the year, the 1st CBR Symposium on Quality and Clinic Management was held during CBR 22 in Florianópolis (SC). In October, Padi presented five papers at the ISQua 2022 International Conference in Florence, Italy. Also this year, Telelaudo became the first company to receive accreditation in Teleradiology from Padi.

Ninth year of Padi (2023)

The year 2023, like the previous year, was very productive for the Program. Padi presented two scientific papers during ECR 2023, in Vienna, Austria; presented a panel during JPR 2023, attended by more than 120 people; trained a new class of external auditors after nine years; launched technical guidelines for safety in magnetic resonance imaging; held the first course on T. I. operations in diagnostic imaging clinics; presented five papers during the 39th ISQua 2023 International Conference, in Seoul, Korea.I operations course in diagnostic imaging clinics; presented five papers during the 39th ISQua 2023 International Conference, in Seoul, South Korea; held the 1st Accreditation and Quality in Diagnostic Medicine Congress during Medical Fair, in São Paulo (SP); as well as the II Symposium on Quality and Clinic Management, during CBR 23, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ); presented three scientific papers at RSNA and held 11 themed webinars during the year.

Padi's tenth year (2024)

In the year that marks a decade of the Program, various activities were initiated and carried out. In 2024, the recording of Padicast, Padi's podcast, began. The 'Acredita Padi' project was also launched, a program designed to help small and medium-sized radiology and diagnostic imaging clinics join Padi. The course Implementing the Padi Standard in Practice for Healthcare Operators was held in São Paulo (SP), with more than 70 participants, as well as the 1st Magnetic Resonance Safety Symposium, entirely in virtual format.

Padi also launched the "Safe Diagnosis, Protected Patient" campaign to commemorate World Patient Safety Day. The action was supported by the SBPC/ML, SBP and ABRAMED. In October, Padi actively participated in the CBR's Pink October Campaign, 'Solidary Radiology'. The program helped bring together clinics that agreed to donate the exams so that NGOs could distribute them. To celebrate this very special milestone, Padi will soon be launching a photo-book with historical photos and telling a little more about these 10 years of history. The book will soon be available on our website. Stay tuned to our social networks to find out when the launch will take place.
