Analysis of non-conformities in program audits will be presented at one of the most important international events dedicated to quality and safety in healthcare.
The Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Program (PADI) of the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) will receive international recognition during ISQua 2026, the 42nd International Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care, to be held in Dublin, Ireland. The work selected for presentation brings together a groundbreaking analysis of non-conformities identified in program audits and reinforces the role of accreditation as a tool for learning, continuous improvement, and strengthening patient safety.
Participation in the event represents an important recognition of the work developed by CBR in promoting quality in diagnostic imaging services. More than presenting results, the initiative highlights the maturity of PADI in the use of data and evidence to support the evolution of accredited services and guide educational actions nationwide. The study analyzed 89 audits carried out between 2024 and 2025, totaling 703 non-conformities recorded under the PADI standard version 5.1.
The research identified recurring patterns mainly related to infrastructure, equipment, quality management, and risk management, as well as aspects linked to care protocols, control of materials, medications and contrast agents, and routines of management systems. When analyzed in a structured way, the information generated by the evaluation processes becomes a valuable source of knowledge for the sector, allowing the identification of improvement opportunities common to different services and directing more assertive educational actions.
This approach aligns with the work that CBR has been developing to support the implementation of the latest version of the PADI standard. Understanding that updating a standard is not limited to revising criteria, the program has invested in training professionals responsible for applying the requirements and strengthening the culture of quality within institutions.
With this objective, CBR promotes the PADI Standard Interpretation Course version 6 and Internal Auditor Training, an initiative that seeks to bring accreditation criteria closer to the daily reality of services. The training is practical in nature and addresses situations encountered in institutional routines, helping professionals develop skills to conduct internal audits, assess risks, and support continuous improvement processes.
In 2026, the program had already held five in-person Internal Auditor Course sessions, bringing together nearly 200 professionals from different regions of the country. The initiative also includes discussions on increasingly relevant topics for contemporary radiology, such as teleradiology and remote control, demonstrating Padi's commitment to keeping up with the technological transformations in the sector and guiding services on safe and responsible practices.
The experience that will be presented at ISQua reinforces precisely this connection between education, accreditation, and continuous improvement. By transforming audit findings into structured knowledge, Padi expands its contribution beyond service certification, supporting the development of strategies that favor process standardization, strengthen quality management, and reduce care variability.
CBR's participation in the international congress also highlights the growing relevance of Brazilian health quality initiatives on the global stage. Sharing this experience in an international forum dedicated to healthcare excellence helps to give visibility to the actions developed in the country and strengthens PADI's position as a benchmark in accreditation for diagnostic imaging services.
